Volunteer Opportunites – Robin Boyd Foundation

It is our dedicated volunteers that enable the foundation to operate

The Robin Boyd Foundation is almost entirely managed and operated by volunteers. In addition to contributing to the running of the foundation, all volunteers enjoy a range of benefits including free attendance at open day events, invitations to events at Walsh Street and the opportunity to work with other like minded and enthusiastic people.

We are currently recruiting volunteers in the following areas.

Open Days

Our Open Day volunteers are an essential factor in making these inspirational and educational tours an ongoing success. Volunteers assist on the day with House supervision, ticket collection and general safety supervision. In addition to being part an integral part of the event and our visitors experience, all volunteers receive a complimentary ticket to tour the Open Day.

Fundraising

Through our activities and donations, the Foundation pays down the mortgage of Walsh Street to ensure this iconic building continues to be a source of inspiration and an intrinsical part of Melbourne’s design DNA and discourse. Housekeeping

Our Housekeeping Volunteers ensure that the house is properly preserved, cleaned and maintained to the highest standards. This role gives a unique insight into the daily condition of the house, and carries with it, the responsibility to report back regularly so that household maintenance requirements can be noted and attended to.

Gardening

The Garden Volunteers are a vital part of ensuring that Walsh Street and its legacy is preserved for years to come. Assisting with the presentation and care of the garden to the highest standards whilst nurturing and preserving Boyd’s emphasis of the relationship between indoors and outdoors.

Marketing & Admin

The Marketing & Admin Volunteers allow the development and growth of the Robin Boyd Foundation. They vitally assist with public programs, forums and Open Day events through general administration, communication, event promotion, database upkeep and ticketing management.

Research, Archives & Collections

Working with our Archives & Collections Volunteers offers the opportunity for you to become involved with the Robin Boyd Collection, through volunteering, or undertaking an internship, this opportunity allows those volunteers to become an engaged part of the 60 year history of Walsh Street.

Photography

Photography volunteers will photograph Walsh St events, and document the work of the organisation.

Events

Events volunteers assist with the organisation and running of Foundation events. All volunteers receive free tickets to the events they work at.

The time commitment asked of our volunteers varies depending upon the roles and work being undertaken.
