Robin Boyd Foundation

Iconic Modernist House Museum

The Robin Boyd Foundation is the custodian of the legacy of Australian modernist architect, author, critic, and public educator Robin Boyd and the iconic Walsh Street house he designed, built and inhabited.

We are committed to advocating Boyd’s belief that good design can improve people’s lives and our world. Our Guided Tours provide public access to Walsh Street, an exemplar of modernist residential architecture. The Foundation is also known for its Public Programs and 3D Tours that activate community awareness, amplify voices and increase Australian architecture and design participation.

The Foundation’s work is supported by the Boyd CirclePartnersDonorsFriends, and our vital volunteers.

Explore Robin Boyd and Japan

Expanding upon items displayed at our recent exhibition at Walsh Street, Robin Boyd & Japan tells the story of Boyd’s connection to Japan through the objects, influences and relationships he accrued in the 1960s. Created by the Robin Boyd Foundation’s Research and Collections team, the items presented are interlinked and enriched by original research, diving deep into this little-explored aspect of Boyd’s life and work. Drawing down on items from the Walsh Street Archive, State Library of Victoria and RMIT Design Archives, this new curated online network of objects, documents, stories and historical context is designed to be explored.
