Dr Diane Firth: Robin Boyd in Canberra

Mon July 15, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm AEST

This talk focusses on the period of 1952 to 1972: from Boyd’s first Canberra commission with a house for Manning and Dymphna Clarke; to the year following his untimely death and the completion of Churchill House. Over that twenty years the city grew from a population of around 24,000 to 146,000 and Boyd contributed to this young and dynamic city as a visionary architect, critic and advisor.

Dr Dianne Firth OAM is a landscape architect and adjunct associate professor at the University of Canberra. Her PhD was about the creation of Lake Burley Griffin. After stepping down as Deputy Chair of the ACT Heritage Council in 2018 she has moved to the Historic Places Advisory Committee for the Cultural Facilities Corporation.
