Morning Session 10am – 12pm
Afternoon Session 1pm – 3pm
Following on from the success of 2015’s exhibition
on Merchant Builders and 2016’s Fooks exhibition,
‘The House Talks Back’, the Critical and Curatorial
practices in Design studio has this year explored
works by Robin Boyd. The University of Melbourne’s,
MSD Masters Students have examined Robin’s career
chronology with a particular focus on exhibition
projects and how those influenced Boyd’s buildings.
The exhibition will be installed at Walsh Street for
a limited time only and forms the first step towards
The Robin Boyd Foundation’s 2019 Centenary
celebrations.

The ‘House of Ideas’ is an invitation to travel through and across multiple Boyd ideas
– buildings, display homes, exhibitions, curatorial strategies, installations, products,
prototypes, grand visions and two World Expos in Montreal (1967) and Japan (1970).
Led by Professor Philip Goad and Professor Alan Pert, twenty-three MSD Masters’
students have examined Robin’s career chronology, with their research and exhibition
pieces presenting insights to a collection of works that sit outside the more familiar
writings and buildings.
