SOLD OUT Matthew Bird + Phillip Adams: Lanzarote
Wed February 19, 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm AEDT
$20 – $30Event Navigation

Off the coast of Africa, on Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, two cosmic characters journey across volcanic landscapes in search of the modernist oddities of Canarian artist, architect, and activist César Manrique (1919-92). Dressed in Manrique-inspired bohemian attire, they explore craters, lava fields, and volcanic beaches, discovering his otherworldly legacy.
In their photographic essay, Lanzarote, Bird and Adams reimagine Manrique’s paradise with two cartoon-like protagonists who perform a playful rediscovery of Lanzarote’s landscape.
Enjoy an after-hours viewing of House Show, followed by a talk by architect artist Matthew Bird and choreographer artist Phillip Adams.
Ticket includes a complimentary copy of Union 05 Set.
Bird & Adams: Australian architect artist Matthew Bird and choreographer artist Phillip Adams’ collaborative projects are informed through a mutual cross-disciplinary and esoteric narrative of unorthodox human movement and built forms. Since 2010 Bird and Adams have presented their unsolicited, live performance and photographic works at international festivals, galleries and museums and often travel to exotic locations to inspire and stage, including the Mojave Desert in California, Luxembourg City, Brasilia in Brazil and now Lanzarote in The Canary Islands, Spain.
This talk is generously supported by Union Magazine. Brickworks Building Products, and Konpira Maru Wines.
