SOLD OUT Mori House Open Afternoon
Sun November 30, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm AEDT

As spring turns into summer join the Robin Boyd Foundation for an open afternoon at Mori House, Mount Martha, designed by Aires Mateus in collaboration with MA+Co Architects + Neometro.
The plot needed to be redrawn. Controlling the house and its exterior, the program created a division of four areas. These areas were imagined to be marked by voids, by light, both materialized in a cross-shaped lantern that organizes all spaces, like the foundation of a new place.
One patio serves as the entrance, another is social, and others more intimate; one for the youth and the other for the owners of the house. Each exterior space is shaped by limits; by the boundaries of the plot, by the vegetation, by the openings and canopies in each corner of the house.
Each space opens on one side to a garden extending the interior space to the exterior. Spaces are clear, regular, appropriate for a life that will give them meaning.
To the roof it is given the meaning of a belvedere overseeing the sea. With two accesses: one that marks the entrance and the other that connects to the social patio, designed with great freedom, seeking relationships between the terrace and the gardens of the house or with the sea in the background.
The materiality is coffered concrete following the rhythm of the vertical wood boards. This materiality combines with the natural wood boards, in the same position, and with the same rhythm.
A regular spatial structure was aimed at, a support of freedoms of use that, however, would not limit the mystery of this construction. This one so much needed in a poetic construction.
