Evenings with DADo: Murs Murs by Agnès Varda

Join DADo to kickstart the 2025 season, with an evening screening of Mur Murs, a 1981 documentary film written & directed by Agnès Varda. Mur Murs (French for ‘wall walls’ and a play on the imagined murmurs of talking walls) is set on the streets of Los Angeles, exploring its many murals and their creators. It is as much a study of community and diversity as it is an essential catalogue of public art in 1979 LA.
Prior to the film screening, we will be joined by Manuel M Guirao, a Spanish muralist, painter, and portrait artist based in Melbourne. As a self-taught artist, Manuel has been able to blend various artistic influences into his own unique style, which leans towards surrealism. He is passionate about telling stories and conveying emotions through his art, constantly experimenting with composition and color to achieve the perfect balance. His goal is to transform everyday scenes into something magical and captivating, combining traditional elements with his contemporary vision. Manuel debuted his Australian exhibition at Off the Kerb Gallery in September last year.

Doors will open at 6.30 pm to allow attendees to explore Walsh Street and enjoy refreshments in the courtyard. The talk and screening will commence promptly at 7 pm.

– Large bags and backpacks will need to be checked in at entry.
– Stiletto or pointed heels are not permitted due to our cork flooring.
– Tickets are refundable up to 72 hours prior to the event.
– Tickets may be exchanged as long as the purchaser advises us of the new attendee’s name via email.
