Walsh Street X OHM
Sat July 27th @ 10:00 am - Sun July 28th @ 4:00 pm
The home of one Australia’s most influential architects Robin Boyd is open for a special tour for 100 visitors during Open House Melbourne to meet an AIA award winning architect who will talk about Boyd’s lasting impact on Australian design and contemporary architect and tour Boyd’s experimental, mid-century modern house.
The foundation has created these special tours for The Robin Boyd: Centenary of Design program and 2019 will be the first time the Walsh Street residence has been open for the annual Open House Weekend. The tours are on a first come, first serve basis for a nominal fee. Booking must be made through Open House Melbourne’s ticketing system, which will open in June. See details about OHM’s annual weekend festival.
Boyd House II or Walsh Street was designed by Robin Boyd for his own family in 1957 and is his most well-known work. It is an exemplar of modernist Australian architecture, and a house that continues to influence contemporary architectural thinking is an exemplar of modernist Australian architecture.
