Join us for Three Springs Open Day. Set atop a natural rise in the heart of an 85-acre working horse and cattle farm, this project is a bold testament to risk, vision, and artistry. Designed by architect Kristin Green, whose career has been defined by pushing boundaries, the home is both a family sanctuary and a gallery—an uncompromising work of architecture that challenges convention by reflecting the trust and ambition gained throughout the built process.
Designed with a focus on timelessness and durability, the house exudes a sense of civic presence while embracing its surroundings’ natural colours and textures. “This project was never just about interiors—it was about creating a building that truly belonged to the landscape,” says Kristin, who collaborated with landscape architect Paul Thompson to sequence the approach/departure, reform landform and create a setting for the building.
Home-gallery commissions of this scale are rare, with 500 square metres dedicated to the residence and an equal expanse for the gallery, seamlessly intertwined yet distinct. The collection focuses on living Australian artists and features works by Patricia Piccinini, Maree Clark, Kirsty Budge and Lorraine Connelly-Northey, amongst others.
Constructed from sandstone—a tribute to the owners’ family homes in Canberra and Gosford—the design is defined by two distinct entrances: one embracing the warmth of the home and the other setting a more formal tone for the gallery.
Three Springs won the Marion Mahony Award for Interior Architecture and was shortlisted for the COLORBOND® Award for Steel Architecture, as well as the Residential Architecture – Houses (New) categories in the 2023 Victorian Architecture Awards. The residence was also shortlisted for the WAF2023 (World Architecture Festival) for both the residence and pavillion.

You may self-drive and park at Belgrave Station (470 spaces) or take public transport. Please factor this into your travel time. There is no ticket holder parking at Three Springs.
