Join us for a guided walking tour through South Yarra, exploring its rich architectural landscape and social history.
This part of Melbourne holds rich traditions for the Wurundjeri and Bunurong people who have occupied this area for millennia. As an exclusive pocket of development close to the city, this precinct reflects a remarkable architectural legacy—with representative examples of the work of many eminent architects and landscape designers. Its diverse streetscapes feature outstanding heritage buildings from Mid-Victorian to Modernist styles.
Led by experts from GML Heritage and the Robin Boyd Foundation, this tour delves into the suburb’s diverse built heritage— covering nineteenth and early twentieth century residential, commercial, industrial and community developments through to postwar Modernism.
Exploring a precinct bounded by Park, & Millswyn streets that include architectural excellence, heritage-listed buildings, and the stories behind them. As we walk, we’ll uncover South Yarra’s layered history, its evolving streetscapes, and the character that makes this one of Melbourne’s most iconic suburbs. Don’t miss this chance to experience the area’s unique blend of past and present.
Our walking tour is approximately 2km and takes up to 2 hours. It is very leisurely paced, but covers public footpaths, parks and laneways.
This tour has been researched and is delivered thanks to a collaboration between GML Heritage and Robin Boyd Foundation volunteers.

Before you book, please note:
- Walking Tours commence at Rotary Peace Park Melbourne, Domain Road, South Yarra (opposite Domain Park Flats, 193 Domain Road) and commence at the advertised time. If you are late, you will have to catch-up with the group.
- Attendees under 16 years are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
- The tour duration is 2 hours and about 2km, along public footpaths, lane ways and parks. There is only 1 public toilet near the start / end of the tour.
- Please make us aware if booking children on the tour by email at: information@robinboyd.org.au
- Walks may be postponed due to extreme weather events, in which case ticket holders may obtain a refund or be offered an alternative tour date
- Tickets may be exchanged as long as the purchaser advises us of the new attendee’s name via email.
