Tapestry Design Prize Finalists Exhibition

Join us at Walsh Street for an exhibition of the Australian Tapestry Workshop’s Tapestry Design Prize finalists for 2025.

The Tapestry Design Prize celebrates the intersection of architecture and tapestry design and fosters creative collaborations between architects and tapestry weavers. The site for the 2025 Tapestry Design Prize design challenge is Walsh Street, with applicants having the opportunity to create designs for five distinct spaces within the residence.

The five finalist designs, selected by the Australian Tapestry Workshop master weavers, have been woven into tapestry and will be displayed at Walsh Street from Friday 14 – Sunday 16 November. Congratulations to the finalists:

The winner of the $5,000 Prize will be selected by a jury comprising of Patrick Kennedy (Kennedy Nolan), Sally Evans (Nexus) and Cassie Hansen (ArchitectureAU) and announced on Thursday 12 November. Exhibition goers will be able to vote online during the exhibition’s duration to select the $1,000 People’s Choice Prize Winner.

Presented by the Australian Tapestry Workshop the Tapestry Design Prize 2025 is supported by Metal Manufacturers Limited, with project partners Robin Boyd Foundation, Nexus Designs, Architecture Media and Envelope Group.

Before your visit, please note:
– Attendees must be 16 years and over.
– No external food or drink is permitted.
– Large bags and backpacks will need to be checked in at entry.
– Stiletto or pointed heels are not permitted due to our cork flooring.
– Tickets are refundable up to 72 hours prior to the event.
– Tickets may be exchanged as long as the purchaser advises us of the new attendee’s name via email.
